Our u17 D team took on Salthill Knocknacarra at home tonight in the last game for this group this season. 
There was a strong wind end to end in Old Maree this evening and the lads were against it for the first half. 
Despot conceding the first score oranmore maree carried well against the breeze and led 3 goals and 5 to 1:5 from Salthill Knocknacarra at half time. 
Oranmore Maree scored the first point of the second half but after that the visitors hit a purple patch that saw them cancel out our 7 point lead and go a few points to the good. However this oranmore maree team has shown great guts all season and they dug deep to score two well deserved goals and 2 points in the second half. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be enough as Salthill finished the winners on a score line of 4:13 to 5:7. 
Aside from some excellent scoring and ball handling up front, oranmore Maree gave a great account of themselves in defence as well. Time and again they repelled the visitors attacks and built attack ball from deep inside our own half. While it was a pity not to win the game, it was a really great performance by the home team.
